Draft Minutes for the Forum Committee Meeting
Monday 23 September 2024  8.15am at the Uniting Church

Present: Stuart Coughlan (Secretary), Peter Saul, Robyn Baxendale, Judith Ball, Gail Paton, John Jeston, Mary Beare, Laurie Watson and David Brawn.
Apologies: Emanuele Rattazzi, Ian Hendry and Cassandra Harris.

Minutes of Meeting held on 19 August 2024: Approved
Actions arising from Minutes: John Morgan provided newsletter draft

Defibrillators – David Arakie will present a CellAED to the Forum and the Mayor at the next Forum meeting. We need to agree a process for allocating the unit to a community group and providing information about the annual charge and training.

Election results – Stuart updated the Committee on the vote counts.

Berry Flood Action
David has organized a meeting with Council and community representatives, chaired by Patricia White to discuss the Floodplain Management Program as it relates to –

  • Broughton and Broughton Mill creeks,
  • the April 2024 flood event in East Berry and its causes, and
  • discuss and agree on necessary mitigation action
  • arranging a meeting with the Rail authority

Gail has received Berry stormwater plans from Council.
Action: David to report back to Committee

Berry Hotel RA23/1002
No response to our letter has been received from David Stubbs.
Action: Stuart to contact Alyce re preparation for 13 December LEC hearing.

David Berry Hospital
The online ‘Have Your Say’ survey will continue until 21 October.
The public meeting on Saturday was well attended and presentations were good.

Chamber of Commerce
John met with President elect Brooke Rudzis and suggested the Forum and Chamber cooperate in doing a project together eg Berry Mosaic and Art Trail, and Huntingdale community center with play area and day care. Follow up meeting with Anthony and Brooke on Friday.

Service Station
Awaiting update from Peregrine on their intentions for the block of land. 

Berry DCP and HCA
We need to follow up with the new Council and prepare an education campaign. John is helping the Historical Society develop an education plan on the HCA.

Mischaracterisation of tourist cabins – to be discussed at Council on 26 October.
